Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 7 for corrosion, bent pins, or frayed wires.

  2. Verify that the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and is not contaminated.

  3. Inspect the external spool valve for physical damage, leaks, or a stuck spool.

  4. Perform a swap test by exchanging the solenoid from Valve 7 with another known working valve (e.g., Valve 6) to see if the fault follows the solenoid or stays with the wiring/port.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Disconnect Battery

Disconnect the negative battery terminal before servicing electrical components.

  3. Access the Valve Block

Locate the rear external hydraulic valve block (remote valves). Identify Valve 7.

  4. Repair Wiring/Replace Solenoid

If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault, repair the harness. If the solenoid is faulty, remove the retaining nut/screws and replace the solenoid coil.

  5. Replace the Valve Assembly

If the valve itself is mechanically failed or leaking internally, disconnect the hydraulic lines (have a catch pan ready for fluid). Unbolt the valve section from the hydraulic stack and install the replacement valve.

  6. Reassemble and Bleed

Reconnect all hydraulic lines and electrical connectors. Reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or interface device to clear the 0A.70.24 fault code from the system.

  8. Test Operation

Start the tractor, check for leaks, and actuate Valve 7 to ensure proper operation.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • External Hydraulic Valve Assembly / Remote Spool Valve / Valve Solenoid Coil

You must consult a Massey Ferguson dealer parts catalog with the specific tractor's serial number to obtain the exact part number for the Valve 7 section or its electrical solenoid.
