0A.71.13

Massey Ferguson 0A.71.13 – Hydraulic Control Module or Transmission/Drivetrain Control Unit: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a fault or connection problem on the external hydraulic valve 7 (remote spool valve), typically meaning the system has detected an electrical open circuit, short circuit, or communication error with the solenoid controlling this specific hydraulic valve.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 7 for chafed wires, pinched cables, or loose pins

  2. Disconnect the plug at the valve and check for moisture, dirt, or corrosion inside the electrical contacts

  3. Ensure the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) is at the correct level and not contaminated, and check for blocked filters

  4. Check if the valve spool is physically sticking due to debris or internal wear

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Valve

Identify External Hydraulic Valve 7 on the rear remote valve stack.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during inspection.

  3. Repair Wiring/Connector

If the diagnostic check revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, splice in a new connector pigtail or repair the harness. Apply dielectric grease to the pins to prevent future moisture ingress.

  4. Test the Solenoid

Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the valve's solenoid coil. If it reads out of specification (open or shorted), the solenoid coil must be replaced.

  5. Replace the Valve/Solenoid

If the electrical supply is good but the fault persists, depressurize the hydraulic system and remove the faulty solenoid or the entire valve slice. Install the replacement part and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Fluid Maintenance

If the oil is degraded, drain the hydraulic fluid and replace the hydraulic/transmission filters. Refill with approved UTTO fluid.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.71.13 code from the system.

  8. Function Test

Start the tractor, actuate the remote valve 7, and verify proper operation without leaks or returning fault codes.
