0A.72.13

Massey Ferguson 0A.72.13 – Tractor Control Unit (ECU) or Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) controller: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) system, specifically pointing to a signal out of range, a circuit problem, or a mechanical/pressure condition affecting the number 7 rear remote spool valve.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic oil level and condition, checking for dirty or contaminated oil, as well as blocked hydraulic or transmission filters.

  2. Check the wiring harness leading to spool valve 7 for open circuits, shorts to ground, or harness rub points, and ensure the solenoid connector is seated tightly and free of corrosion.

  3. Measure the coil resistance on the valve solenoid to ensure it has not failed internally.

  4. Inspect the rear hydraulic couplers for damage or blockages, and ensure the valve isn't physically stuck due to internal wear or debris.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Ensure the tractor is off, implements are lowered, and hydraulic pressure is relieved before opening the system.

  2. Remove the Faulty Valve

Disconnect the electrical harness and hydraulic lines from the affected spool valve slice (Valve 7). Unbolt the slice from the remote valve stack.

  3. Replace Detents (If Applicable)

On some models (like the 7600 series), if the issue is purely mechanical sticking, you may be able to replace just the spool valve detents rather than the whole valve.

  4. Install the New Valve

Bolt the new electro-hydraulic spool slice into the stack and reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  5. Program the Valve

Because each valve has a built-in processor, you must use a compatible diagnostic tool to program the new valve and assign it its specific number in the stack (Valve 7) so the ECU can communicate with it properly.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Electric Spool Slice (Electrohydraulic Valve)

    3797234M6

Supersedes 3797234M5, 3797234M4, 3797234M3, 3796930M12, R917007388. Massey Ferguson often sells these as complete slices.

  • Spool Valve Detent Kit

Can sometimes be sourced separately for 7600 series tractors to avoid buying the complete valve.

  • Pilot Pressure Control for Electric Spool Valve

    R917008801
  • Hydraulic / Transmission Oil Filter

Replace if oil contamination is suspected.
