Check the cause
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to retrieve the code and confirm if it is active or stored.
Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 7 for corrosion, backed-out pins, or damaged wires.
Visually inspect the valve block for external hydraulic fluid leaks that could be contaminating the electrical solenoid.
Repair steps
Preparation
Shut off the engine, engage the parking brake, and ensure the tractor is on level ground.
Relieve Pressure
Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system by operating the remote valve controls (buttons/levers) with the engine turned off.
Disconnect Electricals
Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the External Hydraulic Valve 7 solenoid.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the area around the valve block to prevent dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic system when the lines are opened.
Remove Lines
Disconnect the hydraulic hoses/lines attached to the valve. Cap or plug the lines immediately to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
Dismount Valve
Unbolt the faulty valve from the mounting bracket or the valve stack assembly.
Install New Valve
Mount the replacement valve. Ensure all O-rings and seals are properly seated. Note: Do not use sealant or Teflon tape on O-ring or flare adapter threads, as this can contaminate the hydraulic fluid.
Reassembly
Reconnect the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical connector.
Test
Start the tractor, check for leaks, and use the diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.72.21 fault code. Test the remote valve for proper operation.
