0A.72.24

Massey Ferguson 0A.72.24 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) control module / main vehicle ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

This indicates a malfunction associated with the 7th external hydraulic remote (spool) valve. This is typically triggered by an electrical connection problem, a wiring harness fault, or a failure of the valve's electronic actuator.

Check the cause

  1. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to retrieve and verify the active DTCs

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 7 for chafing, breaks, or corrosion

  3. Check the electrical connector at the valve actuator for bent pins, moisture intrusion, or a loose connection

  4. Test the valve actuator electronically to see if it responds to manual inputs from the cab controls

  5. Check for mechanical binding in the spool valve or hydraulic leaks around the valve block

Repair steps

  1. Lower all hydraulic implements to the ground and turn off the tractor

    This relieves hydraulic system pressure.

  2. Locate the rear hydraulic valve stack

    Identify External Hydraulic Valve 7.

  3. Disconnect the electrical harness connector

Disconnect it from the valve's electronic actuator.

  4. Clean the area around the valve

This prevents dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  5. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses/lines

Remove the lines attached to the specific valve.

  6. Unbolt the valve assembly

Remove it from the main hydraulic valve block/stack.

  7. Install the replacement external hydraulic valve

Ensure you replace the mounting O-rings (e.g., using an O-ring kit) to prevent leaks.

  8. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness connector

  9. Top off hydraulic fluid

Do this if any fluid was lost during the swap.

  10. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.72.24 fault code

  11. Start the tractor and test the remote valve

Check for proper operation and leak-free performance.
