0A.73.29

Massey Ferguson 0A.73.29 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) or main tractor ECU (Autotronic or DCC3): External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of the #7 external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The system has detected a signal out of range, an open/shorted circuit, or a mechanical condition (like a stuck spool or pressure issue) that the controller cannot correct.

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) is at the correct level and that the hydraulic filters are not clogged with contaminants.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the #7 remote valve at the rear of the tractor. Look for rub points, damaged wires, or corrosion in the solenoid connector.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the solenoid coil resistance on valve #7. Check for an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power.

  4. Ensure the valve spool is not physically stuck due to debris or internal wear. Swap the electrical connection with a known good adjacent valve (e.g., Valve 6) to see if the code follows the wiring or stays with the physical valve.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, and turn off the engine.

  2. Relieve Pressure

Relieve all hydraulic system pressure by cycling the remote levers/buttons with the key on (engine off), then turn the key off.

  3. Access the Valve Block

Locate the external hydraulic remote valve stack at the rear of the tractor. Identify the #7 valve section.

  4. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the #7 valve solenoid.

  5. Remove the Valve/Solenoid

Unbolt the faulty solenoid or the entire remote valve section from the hydraulic block. Be prepared to catch residual hydraulic fluid with a drain pan.

  6. Install the New Part

Mount the replacement solenoid or valve section. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

  7. Reconnect and Reassemble

Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid.

  8. Fluid and Testing

Top off the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) as needed. Start the tractor, allow the system to warm up, and check for leaks.

  9. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.73.29 DTC from the system.
