Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness, pilot pressure control connections, and the main electrical plug going into External Valve 7 for corrosion, bent pins, or wire chafing

  2. Perform an operational test to check if the rear remote responds sluggishly or fails to respond at all when commanded from the cab

  3. Inspect the valve slice stack at the rear of the tractor for physical hydraulic fluid leaks or blown O-rings between the valve slices

Repair steps

  1. Relieve hydraulic pressure

Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before beginning work.

  2. Disconnect battery

    Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  3. Locate Valve 7

Locate the rear hydraulic valve stack and identify Valve 7 (usually counted from the inside out or top to bottom depending on the stack configuration).

  4. Disconnect electrical harness

Disconnect the electrical harness connected to the electric spool slice.

  5. Disconnect hydraulic lines

Disconnect the hydraulic lines/hoses routed to the valve.

  6. Remove faulty spool slice

Unbolt the tie-rods holding the valve stack together and carefully remove the faulty spool slice.

  7. Install repair kit or new slice

If rebuilding, install the OEM repair kit (O-rings and seals). If replacing, install the new Electric Spool Slice.

  8. Reassemble valve stack

Reassemble the valve stack, torque the tie-rods to factory spec, and reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  9. Program new spool slice

The new electric spool slice must be programmed/calibrated to the tractor's ECU using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool.

  10. Clear DTCs and test

Clear the DTCs and test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.
