Massey Ferguson 0A.80.1B – Onboard diagnostic system: External Hydraulic Valve 8 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction, restriction, or failure in the circuit or mechanical operation of the 8th external hydraulic remote/spool valve. Remote hydraulics may become slow, weak, or completely dead.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the hydraulic oil filter and transmission filter for blockages that restrict oil flow

  2. Check for dirty or contaminated hydraulic oil, which can cause sticky valves

  3. Look for blocked, damaged, or faulty quick-release couplers and worn hydraulic hoses that could restrict flow

  4. Test hydraulic pressure to check for relief valve faults or a stuck diverter valve before assuming the pump or spool valve has failed

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure & Drain Fluid

Lower all implements. If removing the valve block, you may need to pump out or drain the hydraulic reservoir. Have a large bucket ready, as this process can be messy.

  2. Disconnect Lines

Disconnect the hydraulic hoses and quick couplers from the affected external hydraulic valve.

  3. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the external hydraulic valve assembly from its mounting position (often directly mounted on the lift cover or stacked at the rear).

  4. Reseal or Replace

If resealing (e.g., Bosch SB23 valves on CCLS/TFLS equipped tractors): Use a specialized spool valve replacement/reseal kit (like the AT20010 tool) to replace the internal seals and O-rings without having to buy a completely new valve body. If replacing: Install the new spool valve/remote valve assembly.

  5. Reassemble

Bolt the valve back onto the lift cover/stack. Reconnect all hydraulic hoses and ISO 5675 quick couplers.

  6. Refill and Test

Refill the system with clean hydraulic fluid, replace the hydraulic filter, and test the remote valve for proper pressure, flow, and leak-free operation.

Parts you might need
