Massey Ferguson 0A.80.29: External Hydraulic Valve 8 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction in the 8th auxiliary/external hydraulic spool valve circuit, which is responsible for controlling external hydraulic implements. The fault typically points to an electronic actuation failure, a sticking spool valve, or a hydraulic leak preventing the valve from operating correctly.

Check the cause
Check the external hydraulic valve block (specifically the section for Valve 8) for visible hydraulic fluid leaks.
Test the auxiliary hydraulic services to see if the valve is sticking in one direction or failing to operate the implement entirely.
Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at Valve 8 for corrosion, broken wires, or poor contact.
Verify that the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and free of heavy contamination, which can cause spool valves to stick.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before beginning work.
Disconnect Electronics
Unplug the electrical harness connected to the Valve 8 actuator.
Remove the Valve
Unbolt the hydraulic lines connected to the Valve 8 section. Remove the mounting bolts securing the spool valve section to the main hydraulic block.
Rebuild or Replace
If leaking/sticking: Disassemble the spool valve carefully. Clean the internal components and install a new spool valve repair kit (replacing all O-rings and seals). If electronically failed: Replace the entire Valve 8 section with a new or remanufactured unit.
Reinstallation
Mount the repaired/new valve back onto the block. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.
Test and Clear Codes
Top off the hydraulic fluid. Start the tractor, test the external hydraulic function for leaks and proper operation, and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.80.29 DTC from the system.
