Check the cause

  1. Inspect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 8 on the rear remote stack for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent pins.

  2. Trace the wiring harness leading to the valve to check for chafing, wire breaks, or short circuits.

  3. Test the valve's electronic solenoid for proper resistance using a multimeter to determine if the coil has failed internally.

  4. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the DTC and operate the hydraulics to see if the code actively returns.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve hydraulic pressure

Safely park the tractor on level ground, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure by cycling the hydraulic remote levers/controls.

  2. Locate valve

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 8 on the rear hydraulic remote manifold stack.

  3. Disconnect wiring

Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the valve's solenoid.

  4. Clean area

Thoroughly clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt and debris from entering the hydraulic system.

  5. Disconnect hydraulic lines

Disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to the valve, using a catch pan to collect any residual hydraulic fluid.

  6. Remove faulty valve

Unbolt the faulty valve assembly from the hydraulic manifold.

  7. Install replacement valve

Install the replacement valve, ensuring all O-rings and seals are new and properly seated to prevent leaks.

  8. Reconnect hydraulic lines

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specification.

  9. Reconnect wiring

Reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid.

  10. Test and clear code

Top off the hydraulic fluid if necessary, start the tractor, check the valve for leaks under pressure, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.81.19 fault code.
