Check the cause
Verify if the issue is isolated to Valve 8 or if multiple systems (like the three-point linkage) fail, which may indicate a weak hydraulic pump rather than a valve issue.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading from the Autotronic/Lift ECU to the Valve 8 solenoid for damaged wires, corrosion, or loose connections.
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to retrieve and attempt to clear the code to determine if the fault is active or a stored historical error.
Check hydraulic fluid levels and perform a pressure test on the external hydraulic circuit to ensure adequate pressure is reaching the valve block.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Ensure the tractor is off and relieve all hydraulic system pressure before beginning work. Have a large bucket ready, as draining the fluid can be messy.
Disconnect
Locate External Hydraulic Valve 8 on the valve block. Disconnect the electrical connector to the valve's solenoid and remove the hydraulic lines.
Remove Valve
Unbolt the threaded rods holding the valve section to the spool block assembly.
Clean and Inspect
Put the end plate and valve on a workbench. Clean the seal surfaces on the spool valve block. If servicing the valve, slide the spool out of the block, inspect for scoring, and replace the internal seals, ball, spring, and plug. Tighten the plug to 2.75 kg m (20 lb ft).
Reassemble
If replacing the valve entirely, install the new valve section. Replace the plates and O-ring seals between the valve slices.
Secure
Reinstall the threaded rods. (Note: The length of the threaded rods differs according to the number of spool valves in your specific stack).
Finalize
Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical connectors. Refill the hydraulic fluid, bleed the system, and test the operation with a diagnostic tool to ensure code 0A.81.25 is cleared.
