Check the cause

  1. Check the hydraulic oil level, ensure the correct oil is used, and inspect for blocked hydraulic filters

  2. Ensure the tractor is at operating temperature (do not diagnose the system with cold oil)

  3. Inspect the hydraulic couplers for faults or non-matching fittings, and check the physical linkage to the valve

  4. Use a pressure gauge to test the relief valves and check for proper flow

  5. Check for a sticking spool inside the valve, internal leakage, or suction leaks

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system by cycling the valve levers.

  2. Drain Fluid

Depending on the valve's location (often mounted on the lift cover under the cab/seat), you may need to drain the hydraulic reservoir or have a large catch pan ready, as removing the valve will release fluid.

  3. Disconnect

Remove the hydraulic hoses, quick couplers, and mechanical/electrical linkages connected to External Valve 8.

  4. Removal

Unbolt the external hydraulic valve assembly from the lift cover or valve stack.

  5. Rebuild or Replace

If rebuilding: Disassemble the spool valve. Clean all components thoroughly. Inspect the spool for scoring or sticking. Replace all O-rings, seals, and springs using an OEM repair kit. If replacing: Mount the new valve assembly.

  6. Reassembly

Bolt the valve back into place (some models require minor modifications or bracket adjustments). Reconnect all hoses and linkages.

  7. Refill & Test

Refill the hydraulic oil to the proper level. Start the tractor, allow the oil to warm up, and test the remote valve for proper operation and leaks. Clear the DTC code using a compatible diagnostic tool.
