Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 8 at the rear hydraulic block for any signs of chafing, breaks, or rodent damage.

  2. Disconnect the electrical plug at Valve 8 and check for bent pins, moisture, dirt, or corrosion.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the solenoid coil on Valve 8 to ensure it is not open or shorted to ground.

  4. Verify that the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and that the hydraulic filters are not clogged, as restricted flow can trigger valve performance codes.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, relieve hydraulic system pressure, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate the external hydraulic valve stack at the rear of the tractor. Identify Valve 8 (refer to the specific model's service manual for the exact stacking order).

  3. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  4. Electrical Repair

If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring issue, repair the damaged wires or replace the pigtail connector. Apply dielectric grease to the pins and reconnect.

  5. Component Replacement

If the solenoid or the valve itself failed the diagnostic tests, unbolt the faulty solenoid or the entire spool valve slice from the manifold block.

  6. Installation

Install the new valve or solenoid using new O-rings. Torque the mounting bolts to the specifications listed in the OEM service manual.

  7. Reassembly and Testing

Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.8X.11 fault code. Cycle the hydraulic remote to verify proper operation and check for any fluid leaks.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Electro-Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly (Valve 8)

OEM part number depends on the specific 4700/5600/7600/7700 series model

  • Hydraulic Valve Solenoid Coil

  • Hydraulic Valve O-Ring / Seal Kit

  • Mechanical Conversion Kit

    TS3200M

For older mechanical conversions, but 0A.8X.11 applies to modern CAN-bus controlled electro-hydraulic systems
