Massey Ferguson 0A.8X.1B: External Hydraulic Valve 8 Issue

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Check the wiring harness and connector leading to External Hydraulic Valve 8 (usually located at the rear remote valve stack) for corrosion, damaged pins, or frayed wires

  2. Test the solenoid on Valve 8 for an open circuit or improper resistance. Compare the amp draw and resistance readings to a known good valve (like Valve 1 or 2)

  3. Ensure hydraulic fluid levels are correct and filters are not clogged, as fluid starvation can sometimes cause valve actuation issues

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Disconnect Electrical

Unplug the electrical harness connector from the Valve 8 solenoid.

  3. Remove the Valve/Solenoid

Depending on the failure, either unbolt the specific solenoid coil or remove the entire spool valve assembly from the rear hydraulic stack. Have a bucket ready, as hydraulic fluid will leak during this process.

  4. Install New Parts

Install the replacement solenoid or spool valve. Ensure all O-rings (e.g., OEM part 195561M1) are seated correctly to prevent leaks.

  5. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the electrical harness, top off the hydraulic fluid, start the tractor, and clear the DTCs using a compatible diagnostic tool. Test the remote to ensure proper operation.
