0A.8X.2A

Massey Ferguson 0A.8X.2A – Multifunction Armrest (MFA) / Auxiliary hydraulic control module: External Hydraulic Valve 8 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction associated with the 8th external hydraulic remote (spool valve). The fault could be electrical (such as a short, open circuit, or connection problem at the valve's solenoid) or mechanical (such as a stuck spool or restricted flow preventing the valve from operating correctly).

Check the cause

  1. Check the hydraulic fluid for contamination and inspect the hydraulic/transmission filters for blockages or low oil supply

  2. Inspect the external hydraulic couplers and hoses at Valve 8 for damage, blockages, or faulty connections

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the Valve 8 solenoid for connection problems, corrosion, or broken wires

  4. If equipped with a Datatronic 5 terminal, verify the flow settings and naming configuration for Valve 8 to ensure it hasn't been electronically locked out

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all residual system pressure.

  2. Filter/Fluid Service

If the diagnostic checks revealed contaminated fluid or a clogged filter, drain the hydraulic oil and replace the hydraulic/transmission filter. Refill with Massey Ferguson Premium hydraulic/transmission oil.

  3. Electrical Repair

If the wiring to Valve 8 is damaged, repair the harness or replace the damaged connector.

  4. Valve/Solenoid Replacement

If the solenoid is receiving the correct voltage but the valve is unresponsive (dead hydraulics), the solenoid coil or the spool valve section itself may be faulty. Remove the retaining bolts securing the Valve 8 section to the hydraulic block.

  5. Installation

Install the new spool valve section or solenoid, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specification.

  6. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.8X.2A code from the system.

  7. Test

Start the tractor and test the Valve 8 remote with an implement to ensure proper flow, pressure, and lack of leaks.

Parts you might need
