0A.X.36

Massey Ferguson 0A.X.36 – HITCH: Switch On Mud Guard For Hydraulics Spool Valve Signal Voltage Issue

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the mudguard switch for physical damage, cracked rubber boots, or buttons that are physically stuck in the depressed position.

  2. Disconnect the switch and inspect the electrical connector for water ingress, mud, corrosion, or bent pins.

  3. Trace the wiring harness from the fender switch back to the HITCH controller, looking for chafed wires rubbing against the chassis or tire.

  4. With the key on, check for proper reference voltage at the harness connector and test the switch itself for continuity to ensure resistance changes smoothly when pressed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the faulty external hydraulic/lift control switch on the rear mudguard.

  3. Disconnect

Reach up behind the mudguard panel and unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the switch.

  4. Remove the Switch

Depress the plastic retaining tabs (or remove the locking nut, depending on the exact switch housing) and push the faulty switch outward through the top of the fender.

  5. Install the New Part

Press the new OEM switch into the fender cutout until the retaining clips snap securely into place.

  6. Reconnect

Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical connector to prevent future moisture ingress, then plug it into the new switch. Ensure the weather seal clicks into place.

  7. Clear Codes & Test

Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.X.36 fault code. Stand clear of the linkage/hydraulics and test the fender switch to confirm the spool valve operates correctly.
