Massey Ferguson 0B.00.03 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw
Issue description
The tractor's diagnostic system has detected that the electrical current (amperage) flowing to the solenoid that controls the loader's mid-mount hydraulic valve is exceeding normal operational limits. This condition is typically caused by an internal short circuit within the solenoid coil itself, a short-to-ground in the wiring harness, or a mechanical jam in the spool valve that is forcing the solenoid to overwork.

Check the cause
Test the Solenoid Coil: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance (ohms) across the pins of the affected loader mid-mount solenoid. If the resistance is significantly lower than the manufacturer's specification, the coil has an internal short and is causing the high amp draw.
Inspect the Wiring Harness: Trace the wiring from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader electro-valve. Look for rubbed-through insulation, melted wires, or corrosion that could be causing a short-to-ground.
Check for Mechanical Binding: A jammed hydraulic spool can cause the solenoid to draw excessive current as it struggles to actuate. Remove the solenoid and ensure the valve spool moves freely.
Check Battery and Connections: While less common for a localized high-amp code, weak batteries or heavily corroded terminals can cause voltage drops that lead to amperage spikes in solenoids.
Repair steps
Safety First
Lower the loader completely to the ground and relieve all hydraulic system pressure.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent accidental electrical shorts or system activation during the repair.
Locate the Valve
Locate the mid-mount valve block, which is typically mounted on the chassis where the hydraulic lines route to the loader joystick/couplers.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the faulty solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid
Remove the retaining nut or bolt at the end of the valve stem that holds the solenoid coil in place. Slide the old solenoid coil off the cartridge tube.
Install the New Part
Slide the new replacement solenoid coil over the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut.
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the electrical harness, reconnect the battery, and start the tractor. Operate the loader joystick to ensure the fault code clears and hydraulic function is restored.
