Massey Ferguson 0B.00.04 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Open Circuit

Issue description

This code indicates an electrical "open circuit" condition in the solenoid that controls the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve for the loader. The system's diagnostic monitoring has detected infinite resistance or a complete loss of electrical continuity in the circuit, meaning power cannot flow through the solenoid coil to actuate the valve.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the mid-mount valve block wiring harness for physical damage, chafing, or disconnected plugs.

  2. Disconnect the plug at the affected solenoid and check for pushed-back pins, water ingress, or heavy corrosion.

  3. Measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil using a multimeter set to Ohms to check for an open loop (OL).

  4. Perform a harness continuity test between the Mid Mount Valve Module connector pins and the solenoid connector pins.

  5. Verify that the ground circuit for the solenoid block is clean and tight.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal

    This prevents short circuits.

  2. Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the loader circuit

Move the joystick through all positions.

  3. Locate the faulty solenoid

Find it on the mid-mount valve block.

  4. Unplug the electrical connector

    Disconnect it from the solenoid.

  5. Remove the retaining nut

Take off the nut at the end of the valve stem holding the solenoid coil in place.

  6. Slide the old solenoid coil off the valve cartridge tube

Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the valve cartridge to replace just the coil.

  7. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining nut

Do not overtighten, as this can distort the coil.

  8. Reconnect the electrical plug

Ensure the weather seal clicks into place.

  9. Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test loader functions

    Ensure the 0B.00.04 code clears.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Bosch Rexroth Complete Valve Kit Assembly

    R917007989

Massey Ferguson utilizes Bosch Rexroth hydraulic distributors for many of their electronic mid-mount valve kits.

  • Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Coil

Solenoid coils are often sold separately from the main valve block. Cross-reference the numbers stamped directly on the side of the defective Bosch Rexroth coil with the tractor's specific serial number in the AGCO parts catalog.
