Massey Ferguson 0B.00.08 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Low Amp Draw

Issue description

The system has detected a "Low Amp Draw" on the circuit for the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve solenoid. A low amperage draw typically indicates high resistance or an open circuit. This is most commonly caused by a disconnected plug, a broken wire in the harness, corroded connector pins, or a failed (burnt out/open) solenoid coil.

Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Locate the mid-mount valve block (usually mounted on the right side of the tractor chassis or near the loader subframe). Inspect the wiring harness leading to the valve block for chafing, cuts, or pinch points.

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical plug at the affected solenoid. Check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins. Ensure the connector seats tightly.

  3. Coil Resistance Test: Using a multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil. A healthy coil will show a specific low resistance value (usually a few Ohms). If the multimeter reads "OL" (Open Loop) or infinite resistance, the internal coil winding is broken, and the coil must be replaced.

  4. Voltage Test: With the tractor on and the loader joystick activated, check for voltage at the harness connector to ensure the Mid Mount Valve Module is sending the command signal.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable

    to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the loader system

    by moving the joystick in all directions.

  3. Locate the specific mid-mount electro valve

    on the hydraulic distributor block.

  4. Unplug the electrical connector

    from the faulty solenoid.

  5. Remove the retaining nut or clip

    at the end of the valve stem that holds the solenoid coil in place.

  6. Slide the old solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge.

    (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the valve cartridge itself, meaning no fluid should leak).

  7. Slide the new solenoid coil

    onto the valve stem.

  8. Reinstall and tighten

    the retaining nut/clip.

  9. Reconnect the electrical harness plug.

  10. Reconnect the battery.

  11. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0B.00.08 fault code

    and test the loader operation.
