Massey Ferguson 0B.00.09 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the electrical current (amperage) being drawn by the solenoid on the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve is exceeding the maximum threshold allowed by the controller. Technically, this usually points to a short circuit. The short could be internal to the solenoid coil itself (melted internal windings reducing resistance) or a short-to-ground in the wiring harness leading to the valve.

Check the cause

  1. Perform a visual wiring inspection by tracing the harness from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block, looking for pinched wires, chafing, or melted insulation.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the mid-mount valve solenoid and inspect for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins.

  3. Test coil resistance using a digital multimeter across the two pins of the solenoid coil. If resistance is near zero ohms, the coil is internally shorted.

  4. Perform a harness isolation test: with the solenoid disconnected, turn the machine on and activate the loader joystick. If the code changes to an Open Circuit code (0B.00.10), the solenoid is faulty. If the High Amp Draw code persists, the short is in the wiring harness.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental shorting during repair.

  2. Relieve Pressure

    Relieve hydraulic pressure by moving the loader joystick in all directions.

  3. Disconnect

    Unplug the wiring harness connector from the faulty mid-mount valve solenoid.

  4. Remove Coil

    Remove the retaining nut or bolt at the end of the valve stem that holds the solenoid coil in place.

  5. Slide Off

    Carefully slide the old solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge tube. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the valve cartridge to replace the coil).

  6. Clean and Inspect

    Wipe down the valve stem. Ensure it is not bent, rusted, or damaged.

  7. Install New Coil

    Slide the new replacement solenoid coil over the stem.

  8. Secure

    Reinstall the retaining nut. Do not over-tighten, as this can crack the plastic casing of the new coil or distort the valve stem.

  9. Reconnect

    Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid.

  10. Test

    Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor, clear the stored DTCs using a compatible diagnostic tool, and test the loader functions to ensure the code does not return.
