Massey Ferguson 0B.00.12 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw

Issue description

The control module is detecting an abnormally high electrical current (amperage) flowing through the circuit that controls the solenoid on the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve, typically pointing to a short circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • 5710SL
  • 5711SL
  • 5712SL
  • 5713SL
  • T4
  • MF 5608
  • MF 5609
  • MF 5610
  • MF 5611
  • MF 5612
  • MF 5613

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness from the mid-mount valve block back to the module for pinched wires, chafing, or melted insulation that could cause a short to ground.

  2. Disconnect the electrical plug at the affected loader valve solenoid and inspect the pins for water ingress, corrosion, or bridging.

  3. Measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil using a digital multimeter (a reading at or near 0 Ohms indicates the coil is internally shorted).

  4. Perform a harness short test with the solenoid unplugged and the key in the ON position by activating the loader joystick and checking if the power wire is shorting directly to the ground wire or chassis.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Lower the loader to the ground, turn off the tractor, remove the key, and cycle the loader joystick in all directions to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Locate the Valve

Identify the specific mid-mount electro valve block and locate the solenoid throwing the code (you may need to test multiple solenoids on the block to find the one with high amp draw/low resistance).

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

  4. Remove the Coil

Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve stem holding the solenoid coil in place.

  5. Swap the Coil

Slide the old solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge.

  6. Install

Slide the new OEM solenoid coil onto the stem. Install and tighten the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can crack the plastic coil housing).

  7. Reconnect and Clear

Reconnect the wiring harness. Start the tractor, test the loader functions, and verify that the 0B.00.12 code has moved to an inactive state or cleared from the dash.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid (Solenoid Coil)

Ensure you are purchasing just the electrical solenoid coil (if available separately) rather than the entire hydraulic valve cartridge. Verify the voltage (typically 12V) and the connector type (e.g., Deutsch connector) matches your existing harness.
