Massey Ferguson 0B.01.05 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Low Amp Draw

Issue description

This code indicates that the electrical current (amperage) flowing through the solenoid circuit for the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve is lower than the expected threshold. A "Low Amp Draw" typically points to high electrical resistance in the circuit, which is most commonly caused by a failing solenoid coil, a loose or corroded electrical connector, or a partially broken wire in the harness.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the mid-mount valve block for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or physical damage

  2. Disconnect the electrical plug at the affected loader mid-mount solenoid and check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins

  3. Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil using a multimeter to check for an open circuit or abnormally high resistance

  4. Check for continuity between the solenoid connector and the Mid Mount Valve Module to rule out a broken wire in the main harness

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent short circuits.

  2. Locate the Valve

Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block. Identify the specific solenoid throwing the code (often determined by actuating the joystick to see which loader function is unresponsive).

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid Coil

Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve cartridge stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve stem. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the valve cartridge itself, meaning no fluid should leak).

  5. Install New Coil

Slide the new replacement solenoid coil onto the valve stem. Install and tighten the retaining nut to secure it.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid. Reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear Codes & Test

Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0B.01.05 fault code. Start the tractor and test the loader joystick to ensure full functionality and verify the code does not return.
