0B.01.21

Massey Ferguson 0B.01.21 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Issue With Spool Position Sensor Value

Issue description

The onboard diagnostic system is receiving an incorrect, out-of-range, or erratic signal from the sensor responsible for monitoring the physical position of the hydraulic spool valve.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve and Verify Codes: Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm 0B.01.21 is active. Check for related codes (like 0B.01.22: Issue With Calibration OF Valves).

  2. Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors routing to the mid-mount valve block for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Electrical Testing: Verify that the spool position sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage and ground from the module.

  4. Signal Verification: Monitor the live sensor data via the diagnostic tool while manually actuating the loader joystick to see if the sensor value changes smoothly or drops out.

Repair steps

  1. Power down the tractor and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the loader/mid-mount valve system.

Power down the tractor and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the loader/mid-mount valve system.

  2. Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block.

Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block (typically mounted under the right side of the cab or along the chassis frame).

  3. Disconnect the electrical harness from the faulty spool position sensor.

Disconnect the electrical harness from the faulty spool position sensor.

  4. Unbolt/unscrew the sensor from the valve body.

Unbolt/unscrew the sensor from the valve body (be prepared for minor hydraulic fluid loss; cap fittings as necessary).

  5. Install the replacement spool position sensor.

Install the replacement spool position sensor and torque to OEM specifications.

  6. Reconnect the electrical harness.

    Reconnect the electrical harness.

  7. Perform a hydraulic valve calibration procedure.

Crucial Step: Perform a hydraulic valve calibration procedure using the diagnostic tool, as the module must learn the new sensor's neutral and end-of-stroke values (failure to do so will likely trigger code 0B.01.22 or 0B.01.23).

  8. Clear the DTCs and test the loader functions.

Clear the DTCs and test the loader functions for proper operation.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Mid-Mount Valve Spool Position Sensor / Loader Electro Valve Sensor

Modular electronic component fitted directly to the mid-mount hydraulic valve block.
