0B.02.06

Massey Ferguson 0B.02.06 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw

Issue description

The electrical current (amperage) being pulled by the solenoid on the mid-mount loader valve is exceeding the normal operating threshold, indicating an electrical short (either an internal short circuit within the solenoid coil windings or a short-to-ground in the wiring harness).

Check the cause

  1. Visual Wiring Inspection: Trace the wiring harness from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block. Look for pinched wires, chafed insulation, or melted spots that could be shorting directly to the tractor's chassis (ground).

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical connector at the affected solenoid. Check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins that could be bridging the connection and causing a short.

  3. Solenoid Resistance Test (Ohms): With the solenoid disconnected, measure the resistance across the two pins on the solenoid coil. A reading of near zero ohms (or significantly lower than the manufacturer specification) confirms the coil is internally shorted and must be replaced.

  4. Voltage Drop Test: Check the power and ground feeds at the connector while under load to ensure the circuit is otherwise healthy.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Turn off the tractor, lower the loader to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Locate the Valve Block

Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block (typically mounted on the right side of the tractor chassis, below the cab).

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the faulty loader valve solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid

Remove the retaining nut or cap at the end of the valve stem that secures the solenoid coil in place.

  5. Swap the Coil

Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge stem. Clean the stem to ensure it is free of dirt and debris. Slide the new replacement solenoid coil onto the stem.

  6. Reassemble

Reinstall and tighten the retaining nut. Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring the weather seal clicks into place.

  7. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use a compatible diagnostic tool (or the dash interface) to clear the 0B.02.06 fault code.

  8. Test

Operate the loader joystick to confirm proper function and ensure the code does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid

Ensure the replacement coil matches the voltage (12V) and the specific connector type (e.g., Deutsch connector) of the original harness.
