Massey Ferguson 0B.02.07 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Open Circuit
Issue description
The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected an "open circuit" in the electrical circuit controlling one of the loader's mid-mount electro valve solenoids. An open circuit means that electrical current cannot complete its path. This is typically caused by a disconnected plug, a broken or chafed wire in the harness, or a burnt-out/failed internal coil within the solenoid itself.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Locate the mid-mount valve block (usually mounted on the right side of the tractor chassis where the loader hydraulic hoses connect). Inspect the wiring harness leading to the solenoids for obvious physical damage, rodent damage, or chafing against the chassis.
Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical plug at the affected solenoid. Check for pushed-out pins, heavy corrosion, or water ingress inside the connector.
Solenoid Coil Resistance Test: Using a digital multimeter set to Ohms (Ω), probe the two pins on the solenoid itself. If the multimeter reads "OL" (Out of Limits) or infinite resistance, the solenoid coil is burnt out internally and must be replaced. If the coil shows a normal resistance reading (typically between 5 to 15 ohms depending on the specific 12V coil), the solenoid is good, and the open circuit is in the tractor's wiring harness.
Harness Continuity Test: If the solenoid tests good, check the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the Mid Mount Valve Module to find the break in the wire.
Repair steps
Safety First
Lower the loader to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Access the Valve
Clean the area around the mid-mount valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.
Remove the Coil
Most electro-hydraulic solenoids are secured by a single retaining nut on the end of the valve stem/cartridge. Remove this retaining nut.
Slide Off the Coil
Slide the old solenoid coil off the cartridge stem. (Note: You usually do not need to remove the hydraulic cartridge itself, which means no hydraulic fluid will be lost).
Install New Coil
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem in the correct orientation.
Secure
Reinstall and tighten the retaining nut (do not over-tighten, as this can crack the plastic coil housing).
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back in.
Test
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, clear the stored fault codes via the dash menu or diagnostic tool, and test the loader joystick for proper operation.
