Massey Ferguson 0B.02.09 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw
Issue description
The system has detected that the electrical current (amperage) being drawn by the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve solenoid is exceeding the normal operating limits. A "High Amp Draw" typically indicates a short circuit to ground in the wiring, an internally shorted solenoid coil, or a mechanically stuck spool valve that is forcing the solenoid to overwork.

Check the cause
Visual Wiring Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness running from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block. Look for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched lines that could cause a short to ground.
Connector Check: Disconnect the plug at the affected solenoid. Check for water ingress, corrosion, or melted pins, which can cause resistance issues and shorting.
Solenoid Resistance Test: Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the solenoid coil. An extremely low reading (near zero) indicates the internal coil windings have shorted together, causing the high amp draw.
Mechanical Binding Check: With the machine off and hydraulic pressure relieved, check if the valve spool moves freely. If the spool is jammed with debris, the solenoid may draw excessive current trying to actuate it.
Repair steps
Safety First
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower the loader to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Locate the Valve Block
Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block (typically mounted under the right side of the cab/chassis).
Disconnect the Solenoid
Unplug the electrical connector from the specific solenoid throwing the code.
Remove the Solenoid Coil
Remove the retaining nut or cap screw at the end of the valve stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the valve cartridge just to replace the electrical coil).
Install the New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's torque specification.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical connector back in. If the wiring harness was damaged, splice in a repair pigtail or replace the harness section.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the tractor's dash menu or a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0B.02.09 DTC. Start the tractor and operate the loader joystick to verify smooth operation and ensure the code does not return.
