Massey Ferguson 0B.02.12 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw

The electrical current (amperage) being pulled by the solenoid on the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve is exceeding the normal operating threshold, typically caused by an electrical short circuit.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block for pinched wires, melted insulation, or chafing against the tractor chassis.

   Disconnect the harness at the affected solenoid and check for water ingress, corrosion, or dirt bridging the terminals. Clean with contact cleaner if necessary.

   Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil. A reading of near zero ohms indicates a dead short inside the coil.

   While the solenoid is removed, ensure the mechanical valve spool moves freely to rule out a physically stuck spool causing excessive amperage draw.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes during the repair.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block (typically mounted on the right side of the tractor under the cab, near the loader subframe).

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Remove the retaining nut or cap screw at the end of the solenoid cartridge.

   Extract the Coil

   Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve stem. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or drain hydraulic fluid just to replace the electromagnetic coil).

   Clean and Install

   Wipe down the valve stem to ensure it is free of dirt. Slide the new replacement solenoid coil onto the stem.

   Secure the Coil

   Reinstall the retaining nut. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque can distort the internal valve spool and cause it to stick.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness back into the new solenoid and reconnect the tractor's battery.

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or the tractor's dash interface to clear the 0B.02.12 DTC from the system.

    Test

    Start the tractor and operate the loader joystick to verify normal function and ensure the code does not return.
