Massey Ferguson 0B.X.02 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Low Amp Draw

Issue description

The controller is detecting less electrical current (amperage) than expected flowing through the solenoid circuit that operates the mid-mount loader valve. A "low amp draw" typically indicates high electrical resistance, a failing solenoid coil, a loose connection, or a partially open circuit in the wiring harness.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the Wiring Harness: Trace the wiring from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block. Look for chafed wires, pinch points, or breaks that could cause high resistance.

  2. Check the Connectors: Disconnect the electrical plug at the affected mid-mount valve solenoid. Inspect the pins for corrosion, dirt, or water ingress, which are common causes of low amperage readings.

  3. Test the Solenoid Coil: Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil. If the reading is completely open (infinite resistance) or significantly higher than the manufacturer's specification, the internal coil windings have failed.

  4. Check the Ground: Ensure the ground circuit for the valve block and solenoid is clean and tight.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

    Lower the loader to the ground, turn off the tractor, and cycle the loader joystick to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Locate the Valve

    Identify the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block (typically located under the right side of the cab or near the mid-frame loader mounts).

  3. Disconnect Power

    Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

  4. Remove the Coil

    Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid valve cartridge stem.

  5. Swap the Part

    Slide the old solenoid coil off the cartridge stem. Slide the new replacement coil onto the stem.

  6. Reassemble

    Reinstall the retaining nut and tighten it securely (do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge). Reconnect the electrical plug.

  7. Clear Codes & Test

    Turn the tractor on, clear the DTCs via the dash or a compatible diagnostic tool, and operate the loader to ensure the code does not return and the valve functions smoothly.
