0B.X.05

Massey Ferguson 0B.X.05 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Low Amp Draw

Issue description

The system has detected that the electrical current (amperage) being drawn by the solenoid that controls the mid-mount loader valve is lower than the expected operational threshold. This typically points to an electrical issue such as an open circuit, high electrical resistance, a failing solenoid coil winding, or a damaged wiring harness/connector.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block for pinched wires, chafing, or broken lines.

  2. Disconnect the plug at the mid-mount valve solenoid and check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins, which can cause high resistance.

  3. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the solenoid coil. If the multimeter reads OL (open loop) or an unusually high resistance, the internal windings are broken.

  4. With the tractor on and the loader joystick actuated, check for proper voltage reaching the solenoid connector to rule out a module or joystick spool position sensor issue.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Lower the loader to the ground to relieve all hydraulic system pressure. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Locate the Valve

Locate the mid-mount valve block, which is typically mounted under the right side of the cab or along the tractor frame where the loader hydraulic lines connect.

  3. Disconnect Electrical

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid

Depending on the specific valve block design, either unscrew the retaining nut at the end of the stem and slide the electromagnetic coil off, or use a wrench to unthread the entire solenoid cartridge valve from the block.

  5. Install New Part

Slide the new coil onto the stem (or thread the new cartridge valve into the block, ensuring O-rings are lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid). Tighten to OEM torque specs.

  6. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the electrical plug, reconnect the battery, and start the tractor. Test the loader joystick to ensure smooth operation and verify that the 0B.X.05 code has cleared.
