0B.X.10

Massey Ferguson 0B.X.10 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Open Circuit

Issue description

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a break in the electrical circuit (infinite resistance) leading to the solenoid that controls the mid-mount hydraulic valve. When this circuit is open, the solenoid cannot activate, resulting in a loss of loader function or jerky, unresponsive joystick controls.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader mid-mount valve block for chafed wires, breaks, or pinch points.

  2. Disconnect the plug at the affected solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, dirt, or bent terminals.

  3. Use a digital multimeter to measure the resistance (Ohms) across the solenoid's pins. An 'open circuit' reading (infinite ohms / OL) confirms the internal coil winding is burnt out.

  4. Ensure hydraulic fluid is clean and at the proper level, as contamination can cause the valve spool to stick and overwork the solenoid.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Lower the loader to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Locate the Valve Block

Find the mid-mount valve block, which is typically mounted on the right side of the tractor under the cab or near the transmission housing where the loader hydraulic lines connect.

  3. Remove the Faulty Solenoid

Disconnect the electrical harness from the solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or bolt at the end of the solenoid stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge.

  4. Install the New Solenoid

Slide the replacement solenoid coil over the valve stem. Ensure it is seated correctly and tighten the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the valve).

  5. Reconnect and Test

Plug the electrical connector back in. Reconnect the battery.

  6. Clear Codes

Use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's dash interface to clear the 0B.X.10 DTC. Start the tractor and test the loader joystick to ensure smooth operation.

Parts you might need
