Massey Ferguson 0B.X.23 – Loader Mid Mount Valve Module: Issue With Calibration OF Valves
Issue description
Electro-hydraulic proportional valves have lost their calibration parameters, or the controller attempted a self-calibration/routine calibration that failed.

Check the cause
Check hydraulic fluid level and ensure it is at operating temperature (35°C - 45°C), as cold, thick oil will cause calibration to fail
Inspect hydraulic filters for restriction and check for dirty oil, which can cause mid-mount spool valves to stick
Inspect the wiring harness at the Loader Mid Mount Valve block for loose connector pins, moisture ingress, or rubbed wires on the solenoids and spool position sensors
Check for accompanying fault codes such as 0B.X.17 through 0B.X.21 (Issue With Spool Position Sensor Value) or 0B.X.16 (No Communication), which indicate a hard electrical fault that must be fixed before calibration
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on flat ground, apply the parking brake, and place the transmission in neutral.
Warm-Up
Start the engine and set the RPM to around 1500. Cycle the loader joystick through all functions (raise, lower, dump, curl) repeatedly for a few minutes. This ensures the mid-mount valve block and solenoids are warmed up to the transmission temperature.
Enter Calibration Mode
Access the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu via the Dash Control Center (SIS) or the Datatronic terminal. Navigate to the Loader / Mid-Mount Valve calibration section.
Joystick Calibration
Follow the on-screen prompts to move the joystick to its maximum extents (full forward, full back, full left, full right) and hold it so the controller can learn the potentiometer limits.
Valve Calibration
Initiate the electro-valve calibration. The ECU will automatically send varying voltages to the mid-mount solenoids to learn the exact engagement points of the spools. Do not touch the controls during this automated process.
Validation
Once the screen indicates a successful calibration, turn the tractor off to save the settings to the ECU. Restart the tractor and test the loader for smooth operation.
Replace parts if calibration fails
If calibration fails repeatedly, the mid-mount valve solenoids or the spool position sensors are mechanically sticking or electrically failing and will require replacement.

Should be replaced if fluid contamination caused the valve issue.
