Massey Ferguson 10.00.11 – AIRCON: Sunlight Sensor Signal Incorrect (AIRCON)

The signal coming from the cab's solar/sunlight sensor is outside of its normal operating limits or is providing an impossible value to the system. When this sensor fails (either due to an open circuit or a short circuit), the automatic climate control is disabled, and the water valve opening and air conditioning must be controlled manually.

   Scan Onboard Diagnostics to verify the code is active, as some codes result from temporary sensor glitches.

   Visually inspect the area around the sunlight sensor (usually on the instrument panel or cab roof) to ensure nothing is covering it.

   Inspect the instrument panel wiring harness and the specific connector for the solar sensor for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Test the sunlight sensor's resistance/voltage to determine if the transducer itself has failed internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the AC module wiring.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the sunlight sensor. On many models (like the 8400 and 8600 series), it is integrated into the instrument panel/monitor assembly harness. Remove the retaining screws and lift the plastic cover/panel to access the sensor.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector linking the sunlight sensor to the main instrument/AC harness.

   Replace

   Remove the faulty sensor from its mounting bracket or recess, and install the new solar sensor.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the clip is fully seated. Reinstall the instrument panel cover and secure the screws.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 10.00.11 fault code. Test the air conditioning system in "Auto" mode to ensure it regulates temperature properly without defaulting to manual mode.
