Massey Ferguson 10.01.01 – AIRCON: Air Conditioning Vent Temperature Sensor Open Circuit

The control module has detected that the electrical circuit for the vent temperature sensor is incomplete (open). This condition is typically caused by a disconnected plug, a severed wire in the harness, or a completely failed sensor where the internal thermistor has broken, resulting in infinite resistance.

   Locate the AC vent temperature sensor (typically mounted in the HVAC ducting or near the evaporator housing inside the cab) and check the electrical connector to ensure it is securely plugged in and not loose or corroded.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading from the sensor back to the AIRCON module for any visible signs of damage, chafing, or broken wires.

   Disconnect the sensor and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the sensor's pins. An open circuit fault often means a failed sensor will read infinite resistance (OL).

   If the sensor tests good (reads within a normal thermistor range), check for continuity on the wiring harness between the sensor connector and the AIRCON module pins to locate the break in the wire.

   Preparation

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove the necessary cab interior trim panels, louvers, or HVAC duct covers to access the vent temperature sensor.

   Disconnect

   Depress the locking tab and unplug the electrical connector from the faulty vent temperature sensor.

   Remove

   Unclip or gently twist/pull the sensor from its mounting position in the AC vent/duct.

   Install New Sensor

   Insert the replacement sensor into the duct housing, ensuring it is seated securely so air does not bypass it.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor, ensuring it clicks firmly into place.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall all cab interior trim panels and duct covers.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 10.01.01 fault code from the AIRCON module. Run the AC system to verify the vent temperature is reading correctly.
