Massey Ferguson 10.01.07 – AIRCON: Air Conditioning Outside Temperature Sensor Open Circuit

The control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit for the ambient/outside air temperature sensor. An open circuit typically means that the signal voltage is reading out of bounds (usually maxed out at the 5V reference), which happens when the sensor is unplugged, a wire is cut/broken, or the sensor has failed internally and has infinite resistance.

   Visually inspect the outside temperature sensor (located near the front grille, cab roof, or fresh air intake) for physical damage.

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the 2-pin electrical connector for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture ingress. Ensure it is fully seated.

   Trace the wiring harness leading to the sensor and look for any cuts, chafing, or broken wires that would cause an open circuit.

   Use a multimeter to check for a proper reference voltage (usually 5V) at the sensor connector with the ignition turned on.

   Measure the resistance (Ohms) of the temperature sensor (NTC thermistor). If the multimeter reads infinite resistance (OL), the sensor is internally open.

   Check for continuity in the wiring harness between the sensor connector and the AIRCON module.

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the outside temperature sensor on the machine.

   Depress the locking tab and disconnect the oval electrical wiring harness connector from the sensor.

   If the wiring is damaged, repair the broken wire(s) using appropriate automotive-grade splices and heat shrink tubing.

   If the sensor is faulty, unclip or unbolt the old sensor from its mounting bracket (many are press-fit).

   Install the new ambient temperature sensor into the mounting location.

   Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

   Reconnect the battery.

   Turn the ignition on and use an AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or the tractor's onboard diagnostic display to clear the 10.01.07 fault code.

    Verify the HVAC system now displays the correct outside temperature and the AC operates normally.
