Massey Ferguson 10.01.11 – AIRCON module: Sunlight Sensor Signal Incorrect (AIRCON)

The signal coming from the cab's solar/sunlight sensor is outside of its programmed operating limits or is providing an impossible value. When this fault is triggered, the automatic climate control system cannot accurately determine the solar radiation heating the cab and will typically default to a standard fallback value.

   Visually inspect the sunlight sensor (located on the cab roof or dashboard) to ensure it is not covered by dirt, debris, or aftermarket accessories that could block sunlight.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the connector leading to the solar sensor for corrosion, moisture ingress, or backed-out pins.

   Test the circuit for open or short circuits between the sensor and the AIRCON controller.

   Clear the active error code via the dash control center or diagnostic tool and retest. If the code returns immediately upon key-on, it indicates a hard fault such as a dead sensor or broken wire.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the sunlight/solar sensor on the cab exterior roof or interior dash (location varies slightly by cab trim).

   Remove Trim/Covers

   If mounted under a protective cover or monitor assembly, remove the mounting screws and lift the cover to access the sensor.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the faulty sunlight sensor.

   Remove Sensor

   Remove the retaining screws or clips holding the sensor in place and extract the old unit.

   Install New Part

   Seat the new solar sensor into the mounting hole and secure it with the original hardware.

   Reconnect

   Plug the wiring harness back into the sensor, ensuring the connector clicks and locks into place.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall any covers, trim pieces, or monitor assemblies that were removed.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and clear the fault codes. Run the automatic air conditioning to verify the code does not return and the cab temperature regulates properly.
