Massey Ferguson 10.01.16 – Air Conditioning Panel Module (AIRCON): Air Conditioning Panel Module Internal Issue With Temperature Dial
Issue description
The climate control module has detected an internal electrical or logic failure specifically related to the temperature adjustment dial (likely a failed internal potentiometer or a break in the dial's internal circuit board trace).

Check the cause
Check the temperature dial on the AC control panel for physical damage, sticking, or lack of resistance when turning
Remove the panel and inspect the wiring harness and multi-pin connectors at the rear of the AIRCON module for loose pins, pushed-out wires, or corrosion
Verify that the AC module is receiving proper operating voltage and ground, as low voltage can sometimes trigger false internal module faults
Clear the fault code using a diagnostic tool; if the code returns immediately upon turning the temperature dial, the internal potentiometer is confirmed dead
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts while working with the cab electronics.
Remove Trim
Carefully pry off or unscrew the plastic trim/bezel surrounding the Air Conditioning control panel (located in the cab headliner or right-hand side console, depending on the tractor series).
Extract the Module
Remove the retaining screws holding the AC Panel Module in place.
Disconnect Wiring
Pull the module forward and depress the locking tabs to disconnect the electrical harness connectors from the back of the unit.
Install New Module
Plug the wiring harness into the replacement Air Conditioning Panel Module. Ensure the connectors click securely into place.
Reassembly
Secure the new module with the retaining screws and snap/screw the trim bezel back into place.
Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and test the AC temperature dial for proper operation. Clear the 10.01.16 fault code from the system.
Parts you might need
(2)Air Conditioning Panel Module / Climate Control Unit
The exact OEM part number will vary heavily based on the specific tractor model and whether the cab features standard or automatic climate control. Pull the specific part number directly off the sticker on the back of the faulty unit.
Air Conditioning Panel Potentiometer
4289191M1For some older or specific MF panels, the potentiometer itself can be sourced and soldered.
