Massey Ferguson 10.01.23 – AC Module (AIRCON): Optional Cab Extra Fan Relay Signal From AC Module (AIRCON)

Issue description

The Air Conditioning (AC) control module is detecting an irregular signal, open circuit, or short circuit on the communication line that controls the relay for the optional extra cab ventilation fan.

Check the cause

  1. Check fuses related to the cab fan and AC system in the cab fuse box (often located in the cab roof or side console)

  2. Test the Optional Cab Extra Fan relay with a multimeter to ensure it is receiving correct voltage and internal contacts are not burnt or stuck

  3. Inspect the wiring harness connecting the AC Module to the fan relay for damage, breaks, or chafing that could cause a short or open circuit

  4. Check the connectors at the back of the AC Module (climate control panel) for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Always disconnect the battery isolator or negative terminal before working on the tractor's electrical system.

  2. Replace Faulty Relay/Fuse

If the diagnostic checks reveal a blown fuse or a faulty relay, replace it with an OEM equivalent (typically a 12V continuous duty or standard 5-pin relay).

  3. Repair Wiring

If the harness is damaged, splice and heat-shrink the broken wires, or replace the affected harness section to restore the signal from the AC module to the relay.

  4. Replace the AC Module

If the relay and wiring are perfectly intact but the module is still failing to send the correct signal, the internal circuitry of the AC Module (ventilation control panel) has likely failed and the unit must be replaced.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use an AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to clear the fault code history and verify the repair.
