Massey Ferguson 10.02.08 – AIRCON: Air Conditioning Outside Temperature Sensor Short Circuit

The climate control system has detected a short circuit in the outside (ambient) air temperature sensor circuit. This means the voltage signal returning to the controller is out of the expected range (typically shorted to ground or shorted to power), preventing the HVAC system from accurately determining the outside temperature to regulate the cab climate.

   Locate the outside temperature sensor (typically under the AC condenser or on the right side of the cab roof).

   Inspect the sensor's wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could cause a short to ground or a short to voltage.

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent terminals.

   Perform a resistance test on the sensor using a multimeter. A reading of near zero ohms indicates an internal short in the sensor.

   With the sensor unplugged, check the wiring harness side for continuity to ground on the signal wire. If continuity to ground is present, the short is in the wiring harness.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Gain access to the sensor mounting location (under the condenser or on the cab roof).

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty ambient temperature sensor.

   Remove

   Unclip or unbolt the sensor from its mounting bracket.

   Install

   Mount the new sensor into the factory location, ensuring it is protected from direct impact but remains in the ambient airstream.

   Reconnect

   Plug in the electrical connector, ensuring the weather-pack seal clicks securely into place to prevent moisture intrusion.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and clear the 10.02.08 fault code using a diagnostic tool or the dash interface. Run the AC system to verify the climate control responds accurately to outside temperatures.
