Massey Ferguson 10.02.17 – AIRCON (Air Conditioning Panel Module): Air Conditioning Panel Module Internal Issue With Fan Speed Dial

The Air Conditioning (AIRCON) control module has detected an internal failure, an out-of-range signal, or an open/short circuit specifically related to the potentiometer or rotary switch that controls the cabin HVAC fan speed.

   Physical Inspection: Inspect the fan speed dial on the AC control panel. Does it feel loose, bind up, or lack the normal detent "clicks" when turned? Physical damage to the knob often breaks the internal switch.

   Wiring & Connector Check: Off-road machinery vibration often loosens connectors. Access the rear of the AC control panel and inspect the wiring harness. Look for backed-out pins, dust intrusion, or corrosion on the connectors.

   Voltage/Resistance Test: If the fan speed switch is a separate serviceable component (a 3-speed or 4-speed rotary switch with spade terminals), use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals at each speed detent.

   Check for Related Codes: Look for secondary codes such as 10.00.27 (Left Cab Fan Speed Controller Issue) or 10.00.30 (Right Cab Fan Speed Controller Issue), which might indicate the issue is downstream at the blower motor resistors rather than the dial itself.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts while working on the CAN BUS modules.

   Access the Module

   Carefully pry off the plastic trim/bezel surrounding the AC control panel (located either in the right-hand armrest console or the roof headliner, depending on the tractor model).

   Remove the Panel

   Remove the retaining screws holding the AC control panel in place. Pull the module forward gently.

   Disconnect Harnesses

   Unplug the main electrical connectors from the back of the AIRCON module.

   Component Replacement

   If the switch is modular: Remove the knob from the front, undo the retaining nut on the switch shaft, and pull the old rotary switch out the back. Install the new switch. If the panel is a sealed PCB: You must replace the entire Air Conditioning Panel Module.

   Reassembly

   Plug the wiring harnesses back in, screw the module into the console, and snap the trim bezel back into place.

   Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on, clear the stored fault codes via the diagnostic menu, and test the fan speed dial through all settings to ensure the blower motor responds correctly.
