Massey Ferguson 10.02.18 – AIRCON: Cab Temperature Sensor Fault

The electronic control system has detected an issue with the sensor responsible for monitoring the ambient air temperature inside the tractor's cab.    Visual Inspection: Locate the cab temperature sensor (typically mounted in the cab headliner, near the return air vent, or on the climate control panel). Inspect the sensor for heavy dust buildup or debris blocking its airflow, which can cause erratic readings.

   Wiring and Connector Check: Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back terminals. Check the wiring harness leading to the sensor for chafing, pinches, or breaks.

   Circuit Testing: Using a digital multimeter, check for proper reference voltage and ground coming from the AIRCON module to the sensor connector.

   Sensor Resistance Test: Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the sensor's terminals. If the sensor reads completely open (infinite resistance) or shorted (zero resistance), the sensor itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove any interior trim panels or headliner sections required to access the cab temperature sensor mounting location.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the faulty sensor.

   Unclip or unscrew the faulty sensor from its mounting bracket or louver.

   Snap or screw the new OEM cab temperature sensor into place.

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor, ensuring it clicks securely.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall any interior trim panels or headliner pieces that were removed.

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and clear the stored fault codes using a diagnostic tool. Run the tractor's climate control system on "Auto" to verify that the AC and heater regulate the cab temperature properly without triggering the 10.02.18 code.
