Check the cause
Check for accompanying codes: Verify if the Engine ECU is logging its own engine speed sensor faults, which would prevent it from broadcasting speed data.
Inspect connectors: Locate the AC Control Module and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-out pins.
Perform CAN BUS network test: With the battery disconnected, check resistance across CAN High and CAN Low pins at the AC module connector (should read approximately 60 ohms).
Test continuity: Check the CAN wires from the AC module harness back to the main cab bulkhead connector and the Engine ECU for chafing or breaks.
Verify power and ground: Ensure the AC module is receiving stable 12V power and has a clean ground connection to prevent it from dropping off the CAN network.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Module
Remove the interior cab trim panels required to access the AC Control Module.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic phase revealed a broken or chafed CAN wire, splice and solder the repair, sealing it with dual-wall heat shrink. If a connector pin is corroded, de-pin the connector and crimp a new terminal.
Replace the AC Module
If the wiring tests perfectly and the Engine ECU is confirmed to be broadcasting RPM data, the CAN transceiver inside the AC module has likely failed. Unplug the faulty module, unbolt it from its mounting bracket, and install the replacement unit.
Reassembly
Reconnect the wiring harnesses and reinstall the cab trim panels.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Connect a diagnostic tool (such as AGCO EDT) to the tractor's diagnostic port, clear the inactive 10.02.24 fault code, and start the tractor. Engage the AC to verify that the compressor now receives the signal and engages properly.
