Massey Ferguson 10.03.15 – Air Conditioning Module (AIRCON): Air Vent Circulation Flap Position Sensor Supply Voltage Issue

The climate control system is detecting an electrical anomaly—either an open circuit, short circuit, or out-of-range voltage—on the supply circuit that powers the position sensor (potentiometer) for the air recirculation flap. Without this voltage, the system cannot determine the physical position of the flap that controls fresh versus recirculated air in the cab.

   Verify the code is active and not a stored historical code using the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or the tractor's dashboard display.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the AIRCON module and the circulation flap actuator for chafed wires, breaks, or pinched lines.

   Disconnect the flap actuator and check the supply voltage pin on the harness side with the key ON (typically 5V or 8.5V depending on the system). If missing, the issue is in the wiring or AIRCON module.

   Inspect the pins on both the actuator and the harness connector for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent pins.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the HVAC Unit

   Depending on the tractor model, the HVAC unit is typically located either in the cab roof canopy or under the dashboard/seat area. Remove the necessary interior trim panels or roof cap to access the blower and flap assembly.

   Locate the Actuator

   Find the air vent circulation flap actuator (a small electric motor mounted to the side of the air ducting).

   Disconnect and Remove

   Unplug the electrical connector from the actuator. Remove the mounting screws holding the actuator to the HVAC housing.

   Wiring Repair (If Applicable)

   If your diagnostics revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, splice in a new wire or replace the connector pigtail.

   Install New Actuator

   If the wiring is intact and the sensor itself failed, install the replacement actuator. Ensure the actuator shaft aligns correctly with the blend door linkage so it does not bind.

   Reassembly

   Secure the mounting screws and plug the electrical connector back in.

   Calibration/Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON and use the climate control panel to cycle between fresh air and recirculated air. Clear the fault codes using the AGCO EDT or by cycling the ignition, and verify the code does not return.
