Massey Ferguson 10.03.27 – AIRCON: Issue With Signal To Left Cab Fan Speed Controller (AIRCON)

The electronic signal from the left cab fan speed controller (often referred to as the blower motor resistor or potentiometer) is outside of its expected operating range. The system detects a return error, meaning the controller is either short-circuited, open, or sending an invalid voltage reference back to the control module.

   Access the left cab blower motor compartment in the cab roof/headliner and visually inspect the wiring harness and connector for melted plastic, corrosion, or loose pins

   Using a multimeter, verify that the controller is receiving proper reference voltage and has a solid ground connection

   Check the continuity of the signal wire between the left fan speed controller and the AIRCON module to ensure there is no open circuit or short to ground

   Spin the left blower motor by hand to ensure it moves freely, and test its amperage draw (a failing blower motor can draw excessive amperage and burn out the speed controller)

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the HVAC Unit

   Remove the necessary cab roof panels or headliner sections to access the left-side HVAC blower assembly.

   Remove the Controller

   Locate the left cab fan speed controller (blower resistor). It is typically mounted directly into the HVAC ducting to allow airflow to cool it.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical wiring harness from the controller.

   Extract

   Remove the retaining screws holding the controller in place and pull the unit out of the housing.

   Install New Part

   Insert the replacement fan speed controller, secure it with the retaining screws, and plug in the electrical connector.

   Reassemble & Test

   Reinstall the cab roof panels. Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and test the climate control system, ensuring the left fan operates smoothly across all speed settings.

   Clear Codes

   Use the tractor's dashboard diagnostic mode or a compatible diagnostic scan tool to clear the stored 10.03.27 fault code from the AIRCON module.
