Massey Ferguson 10.X.02 – AIRCON: Air Conditioning Vent Temperature Sensor Short Circuit

The control module has detected that the electrical signal from the vent temperature sensor is out of its expected voltage range, specifically indicating a short circuit (either shorted to ground or shorted to another voltage source) in the sensor itself or its wiring circuit.

   Locate the A/C vent temperature sensor and visually inspect the wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could cause a short to ground or power.

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.

   Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the sensor's terminals. A reading near zero ohms indicates the sensor is internally shorted.

   Check the harness side with the sensor unplugged. If the short circuit code changes to an 'Open Circuit' code (such as 10.X.01), the wiring is likely fine and the sensor is faulty.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove the necessary cab interior trim panels or HVAC access covers to reach the A/C vent ducting where the sensor is mounted.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Unplug the electrical connector. Twist or unclip the vent temperature sensor from the HVAC housing.

   Install the New Sensor

   Insert the replacement sensor into the duct housing and secure it.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Reassemble any interior trim panels.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 10.X.02 fault code from the AIRCON module.

   Test Operation

   Run the tractor and engage the Air Conditioning. Verify that the vent temperatures regulate properly and that the fault code does not return.
