Massey Ferguson 10.X.07 – AIRCON: Air Conditioning Outside Temperature Sensor Open Circuit

The control module has detected an "open circuit" in the outside (ambient) air temperature sensor circuit. This means the electrical path is broken, either due to a failed sensor (internal break), a severed wire, or a disconnected/corroded plug. Without this reading, the automatic climate control system cannot accurately regulate the cab temperature.

   Visual Inspection: Locate the outside temperature sensor (typically mounted near the front grille, cab roof, or fresh air intake). Inspect the sensor housing for physical damage.

   Wiring & Connector Check: Inspect the wiring harness leading to the sensor. Look for chafed, broken, or rodent-damaged wires. Disconnect the sensor plug and check for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture inside the connector.

   Multimeter Testing: Test the sensor itself for resistance (Ohms). An "open circuit" fault usually means the sensor will read infinite resistance (O.L) if it has failed internally. Check the harness side for proper reference voltage (usually 5V) and a good ground coming from the AIRCON module.

   Bypass Test: If you bridge the connector pins with a fused jumper wire (or a known resistor) and the fault changes from "Open Circuit" (10.X.07) to "Short Circuit" (10.X.08), the wiring to the module is intact, and the sensor itself is the culprit.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the ambient air temperature sensor.

   Removal

   Depress the locking tab on the electrical pigtail and disconnect the harness. Unclip or unbolt the sensor from its mounting bracket.

   Installation

   Snap the new OEM replacement sensor into the mounting bracket. Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use a diagnostic scan tool (or the tractor's onboard diagnostic display) to clear the 10.X.07 fault code.

   Verify Operation

   Turn on the A/C system and verify that the outside temperature is displaying correctly on the cab monitor and that the climate control regulates properly.
