Massey Ferguson 10.X.11 – AIRCON: Sunlight Sensor Signal Incorrect
Issue description
The signal coming from the cab's solar/sunlight sensor is outside of its normal operating limits, or it is providing an impossible value (such as an open or short circuit). When this failure occurs, the automatic climate control system cannot accurately determine the solar heat load entering the cab and will typically default to a preset value (e.g., 300 W/m²) to maintain basic air conditioning operation.

Check the cause
Ensure the sunlight sensor (typically located on the instrument panel/dashboard or cab roof) is not covered by dust, debris, or objects that could block sunlight.
Inspect the machine's wiring harness leading to the sensor for any physical damage, breaks, or pinched wires.
Use a multimeter to test the sensor circuit for an open circuit or a short circuit in the wiring between the sensor and the AIRCON module.
Verify that the proper reference voltage is reaching the sensor connector from the climate control module.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Sensor
Locate the sunlight sensor on the instrument panel. Carefully pry up or remove the mounting cover/panel to access the sensor body.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical wiring connector attached to the sunlight sensor.
Remove
Remove the faulty sensor from its mounting bracket or recess.
Install
Insert the new OEM sunlight sensor and securely reconnect the wiring harness.
Reassemble
Reinstall the instrument panel cover or mounting plate.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery and turn on the tractor. Use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to clear the fault code, or verify if the code clears automatically upon the module receiving a valid signal. Test the A/C system to ensure proper automatic climate control operation.
