Massey Ferguson 100.01 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM: Low Engine Oil Pressure Detected

Issue description

Measured engine oil pressure has dropped below the critical alarm limit. The warning lamp is activated, the fault code is stored, and the engine will typically shut down after 30 seconds to prevent catastrophic mechanical damage.

Check the cause

  1. Check engine oil level and quality to ensure it is not too low, diluted by fuel, the wrong grade, or running too hot

  2. Check for a clogged engine oil filter

  3. Inspect the engine for mechanical issues, such as a malfunctioning oil pressure control valve or an oil pump with excessive wear

  4. Inspect the oil pressure sensor, wiring harness, and controller input for oxidation on connector pins or contact surfaces

Repair steps

  1. Mechanical Verification

Find the root cause of the low oil pressure indication. Check the oil level, oil condition, and oil filter. Repair any mechanical problems (e.g., oil pump, control valve) according to standard service instructions.

  2. Clear the Log

If mechanicals are sound, save the error log in the diagnostic tool and then erase it.

  3. Restart and Test

Restart the ECU after erasing the error log.

  4. Electrical Testing

If the fault occurs again during the next driving cycle, check the oil pressure sensor wiring, the connectors, and the contact surfaces of the connector pins for oxidation or shorts.

  5. Sensor Swap

Check the operation with a known-good or replacement oil pressure sensor to determine if the original sensor is defective. Replace if necessary.
