Massey Ferguson E100.01 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Low Engine Oil Pressure Detected, ALARM

The engine oil pressure sensor has detected a drop in oil pressure below the safe operating threshold. This is a critical alarm designed to protect the engine from catastrophic internal damage due to oil starvation.

   Immediately shut down the engine and check the engine oil dipstick to ensure the oil level is within the safe operating range

   Visually inspect the engine block, oil pan, oil filter housing, and oil cooler lines for severe external leaks

   Inspect the oil filter to see if it is heavily clogged or collapsed, which can restrict flow and cause a pressure drop

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the oil pressure sensor for chafing, corrosion, or an open circuit, and test the sensor's voltage output to the ECU

   Temporarily install a mechanical oil pressure gauge in place of the electronic sensor to verify the actual engine oil pressure

   Address Fluid Levels

   If the oil is simply low, top it up with the OEM-specified engine oil and clear the code.

   Perform an Oil Service

   If the oil is heavily degraded or the filter is suspected to be clogged, drain the engine oil and replace the oil filter.

   Replace the Oil Pressure Sensor

   Locate the oil pressure sensor on the engine block or oil filter housing. Disconnect the electrical connector and inspect for oil intrusion inside the plug (a common sign of internal sensor failure). Unthread the old sensor. Clean the port threads. Apply a small dab of thread sealant to the new sensor (if not pre-applied) to prevent leaks. Thread the new sensor in carefully. Do not overtighten, as these sensors can be easily damaged by excessive torque. Reconnect the wiring harness.

   Internal Engine Repair

   If the mechanical gauge confirms that the engine genuinely has low oil pressure despite correct oil levels, do not run the tractor. The engine will require teardown to inspect the oil pump, pickup tube, and main bearings.
