Massey Ferguson 100.18 – ECU: Engine Oil Pressure Too Low

Engine's oil pressure has dropped below the normal operating threshold, which can trigger an engine derate or warning alarm to protect the engine from internal damage.

   Shut down the engine immediately to prevent catastrophic internal damage

   Check the engine oil dipstick to ensure the oil is at the correct level and that the proper oil type/viscosity is being used

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the oil pressure sensor for broken wires, corrosion, or short circuits

   Use a mechanical oil pressure gauge to test the actual oil pressure at the engine block to determine if the issue is electrical (sensor/wiring) or mechanical (pump/bearings)

   Top Up / Change Oil

   If the oil level is low, fill it to the manufacturer's specified level. If the oil is heavily contaminated, perform a full oil and filter change.

   Replace the Oil Pressure Sensor

   If the mechanical pressure is verified as good but the ECU still reads low pressure, disconnect the battery, remove the faulty oil pressure sensor from the engine block, and install a new OEM sensor.

   Address Mechanical Failures

   If the mechanical gauge confirms low oil pressure, you will need to drop the oil pan to inspect the oil pump pickup tube for blockages, replace the oil pump, or overhaul the engine if bearing clearances are excessive.

   Clear the Code

   Use an AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or a compatible heavy-duty scan tool to clear the logged 000100.18 fault code from the ECU.

   Test Run

   Start the engine and monitor the live oil pressure data on the dash or scan tool to ensure it remains within the normal operating range.
