Check the cause
Stop Operations: Immediately stop machine operations to prevent catastrophic engine damage.
Check Oil Level & Condition: Check the engine oil level using the dipstick. Ensure the oil is at the correct level and is the proper type/viscosity for the operating conditions.
Inspect Wiring: Check the oil pressure sensor's wiring harness and connectors. Look for broken wires, an open return circuit, or a signal circuit shorted to the sensor supply or battery voltage.
Verify Actual Pressure: Connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the engine block to verify the actual engine oil pressure. Compare the mechanical gauge reading with the sensor output using a multimeter or a diagnostic tool (like the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool - EDT).
Repair steps
Safely Shut Down
Turn off the engine, remove the key, and allow the engine to cool.
Verify Oil Level
Pull the dipstick and check the oil level. If it is low, top it up to the specified level, clear the code, and retest.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the engine oil pressure sensor, which is typically threaded directly into the engine block or the oil filter housing.
Inspect the Connection
Disconnect the electrical plug from the sensor. Clean the terminals and inspect for moisture, corrosion, or damaged pins.
Mechanical Pressure Test
Remove the electronic oil pressure sensor and temporarily install a mechanical oil pressure gauge in its place. Start the engine and monitor the pressure.
Determine the Fault
If the mechanical pressure is normal: The electronic sensor is defective or there is a wiring harness issue. Replace the oil pressure sensor. If the mechanical pressure is genuinely low: Do not run the engine. Further internal mechanical diagnosis is required (e.g., checking for a failing oil pump, blocked oil filter, or worn engine bearings).
Install New Sensor
If replacing the sensor, clean the threads on the engine block. Use an appropriate thread sealant (do not over-tighten) and plug the electrical connector back in.
Clear Codes
Use an AGCO EDT or compatible diagnostic scan tool to clear the 00100.18 / SPN 100 FMI 18 fault code from the ECU. Run the engine to verify the code does not return and that no leaks are present.
